He Provides Cool Water

A few weeks ago, the handle on the refrigerated water cooler at church broke. After an extensive search, I located one online from Pittsburgh. Just a plastic knob - nearly $40. A few more weeks passed and the water valve below the knob broke and could not be turned on. Or fixed. The part will not be available until in March.

While pondering what to do, one of the new sisters said, "We have a new fountain and would like to give it to the church." This item sells for above $1,000. The gift amazed me, but so did the timing.

The lady's husband is a professional plumber and wants to install it. The wall, plumbing and electric service need to be modified to accommodate this new, wall-hung double fountain. Dave Kubow has volunteered to handle the non-plumbing items.

My, we serve an amazing God.

Beginning 2007 With A Splash

Craig, 52, was baptized into Christ last night. He has been attending and listening to the gospel and seeing how other believers behaved. Now he has taken the plunge.

Mike has set a goal for baptisms this coming year and Craig asked to be number one on the list. This is the first service of 2007.

While faith in Jesus is the big step because our minds are changed and, as Craig said, "We have a new boss." Yet identifying with Jesus in his death, burial and resurrection is the legal step to becoming part of God's great family.

Welcome, Craig.

Fourscore Foray

Senior member Paul Douglass is off to Africa to deliver medical supplies by using a combination of public and private flights that will deliver him to his target. Paul must not have doctor appointments, dental appointments, therapist appointments or medicine to pick up at the pharmacy. And what about his Christmas shopping? He'll miss out on a lot of bargains. It coming clear that some of us have different priorities.

Paul, may God bless you with a safe and fruitful trip.

(There is an 80th birthday celebration for Paul at the Minnehaha church building on January 21 from 2-5 pm.)

Ken and Virginia Smithline

A member from the very early days of the church has just surfaced. Ken and Virginia Smithline passed this way on a recent trip and attended the church service. They are based in Montana, but travel part of the year. They refer to themselves as the “motorhoming nomads.” Virginia was immersed into Christ recently and they attend the Lolo, Montana church when they are at home base. They can be contacted by email. Write us if you want their address.

God was Glorified

Friday night was a lockin at MCC with about 50 youth attending. It was another link in the growing chain of enthusiasm for our Lord.

Mike Kennedy led a remarkable time of thanksgiving statements from the Christians and their friends that had assembled for Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday. It was a joy to hear.

Roy Barker and this writer reminded each other that it was a wonderful blessing to lead a church that is so peaceful and yet growing.

Added Feature: a Ring

Amanda Graham came to the front to place her fellowship with the church today. Mike Kennedy called John Cody forward and he asked Amanda to marry him and gave her a ring. Her father Tom was seated nearby and had already approved.

Mike explained to the audience that this was not a normal part of placing fellowship with the church.
